Description
A lost book referenced twice in the Old Testament. The extant "Sefer haYashar" (medieval Hebrew, 1625 Venice printing) is a later work of the same name, not the original.
Provenance
The genuine Book of Jasher has been lost since antiquity. Do not confuse it with the medieval namesake.
Christian Assessment
The mention in Scripture proves it existed but does not make it Scripture. God did not preserve it — that is His answer to whether we need it.
