A modern work published by Edmond Bordeaux Szekely, presented as a translation of an ancient Essene manuscript said to have been found in the Vatican Library and at Monte Cassino. It teaches dietary law, ritual purification, sun and angel invocations, and an "Earthly Mother" alongside the "Heavenly Father." No manuscript matching the claims has ever been produced or examined by scholars.
Provenance
No verifiable source manuscript exists. Szekely never produced the Aramaic or Old Slavonic texts he claimed to translate, and the material is widely regarded as a 20th-century composition. Because it is a modern copyrighted work rather than a public-domain ancient text, Apocryphal lists it as a catalog entry only and does not reproduce its contents.
Christian Assessment
This is not an ancient gospel and not Scripture. It is a modern fabrication attributed to the Essenes, promoting salvation through diet, ritual washing, angelic mediators, and a goddess-like "Earthly Mother" — a works system dressed in Christian language. Galatians 1:8-9 pronounces a curse on any other gospel. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:8-9); nothing you eat or wash cleanses the heart (Mark 7:18-23).
